Had a call from my dealer to ask if I could call next time I was passing, so today I popped in, and they asked if I was considering changing my car before the VAT increase in January, I said it was possible, but likely wouldn't go for a brand new one anyway, so we sat down to talk about it, and I listed my must haves as 3.0 ltr PL Spectrum Blue, with xenon lights, blind spot monitors, and front parking sensors/ rear camera. After some looking at stock they said that spec would mean a new factory order, but they did have an ex Jaguar Cars portfolio that ticked all the boxes and a little bit more 3.0ltr S charcoal and figured ebony interior, with 5,000 miles on the clock, for slightly less than the price of a new PL. I expressed my concerns of the 20 ins wheels, and replacement tyre costs, and they offered to swap them for whatever size I wanted. so off we went for a test drive, and I have to say I was very pleased with the ride and tyre noise was no greater than the existing one, and wind noise at speed is definitely much reduced, and ohhh the performance I don't think I will be bothering chipping this one. anyway when they came up with the price to change I just smiled, and the haggle began, and I got another £2750.00 out of them plus a free diamond bright treatment, and chrome vents. And I am keeping the 20 in wheels as 18's on a portfolio would drop the resale value a lot.

The thing that swung it for me was my mileage, at almost 56,000 its just on the edge of what they will sell off the forecourt, another 5k and it would be an auction job, which would drop my trade in by at least 9k plus in a couple of months I will need 4 tyres.

So the deal is done, I am happy with it, and the salesman was amazed at what I had got out of his manager, although i did remind them that unlike last time I had the opportunity to shop around, and that the Dealer principle had said he would not allow me to go elsewhere. I have been looking on the web and reckon I have a snip. Posted Image Posted Image

I pick it up on Friday so pictures will follow, I do like the colour, but will miss my radiance red.

P.S if anyone is interested I have in the boot a pair of unused Kevlar snow socks to fit 245 45 18 wheels £50.00 plus post (or will deliver if I am passing)
3.0D S Portfolio in Spectrum Blue with warm charcoal and figured ebony trim, xenon's, rear camera, front sensors, blind spot monitor, Splash Guards, chrome side vents. Now also Tracker Horizon, Jewel Ultra Paint Protection, and Ventureshield (Was 2.7 PL in Radiance Red with xenons)

That sounds fantastic BillPosted Image I hope you like the charcoal interior; I certainly do.
Now I can't show off with my 19" wheels when we meet up in AugustPosted Image
I look forward to some pics when it arrives.
I've just been notified that my stainless steel grilles have been dispatched, so I'll be posting a piccy soon too. Does your Portfolio S have a black grille or chrome?

Do you know if the snow socks will stretch to 19", or are they definitely 18" only?

Yes admin I swear the dealer principle had tears in his eyes, and now I just beat them down on the finance, lol I decided to finance 10k of it and pay the balance, and they came up with a cost of £350.00 per mth over 3 yrs, and I have it for £311.00 with no documentation fees, and I got them to agree to me swapping my splash guards, K&N air filter, and the chrome trims from the rear lights over so that's another £200.00 saved. Sounds like a good deal, BillPosted Image
Did you manage to get them to give you the Jaguar finance rate (special offer on new cars)? Mine's £425 per month, but I financed £15K more than you!

I wish the tea leaves had told me they were going to pinch my car, because I would have taken the splashguards and chrome pedals off firstPosted Image and not fitted 4 new tyres a few weeks earlierPosted ImagePosted Image

Have you swapped your plates OK?

Bill when you've amassed a good few K on the clock you'll have to give us your opinion on the 2.7 vs 3.0 and the differences. There cant be too many who will have owned (not just tested) both at this early stage of the XF history.

Plate swap no bother dealer handled it I just paid the £80.00 transfer fee. Dont know what the actual rate is not got the papers till I go in for it, but the girl reckons she sweated blood trying to match what I could get from Tesco or Sandanter. Its always the way I just had new front disks fitted on mine last week and the wheels balanced. I really had no intention of changing just yet, but they made a good case for changing now, and the rest is history hope theres some nice sunshine at the weekend and I can post some pics Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

Hi Bill, I'm surprised you didn't get them to agree to clean your house, paint the outside, and fill your fridge full of beer while you were at it!   (or is that next?)
